Weblog 6

The prop I am considering bringing into class is a tennis shoe and a stiletto heel. I am trying to show that each school is different in their own special way. Each shoe fits differently, is different sizes, different shapes, different prices, appealing for different reasons, and supports your foot in a different way just like schools. Every school is different in their own special way as well. They all have different support systems and the main goals and values for each school may differ. Like the chapter in the book said every school has learning as their top priority, just how every shoe is made to support your feet, but every school "differs enormously in how strongly the priority is translated into a press for student's daily and hourly academic accomplishments." Some schools not only focus on learning but also being environmentally friendly, raising test scores, high attendance for sports, and bully free zones. Every school has their own culture with differences that may be significant to another school or similar to one, but no school is the same. Just like shoes, no shoe will ever feel the same as another, look the same as another, or support the person wearing them as another.
